×H5. Modelling for One Health

The recent emergence of zoonotic pathogens resulting in large outbreaks, including COVID-19 and to a lesser extent Japanese encephalitis, has further demonstrated the need for a One Health approach for epidemiological and biosecurity modelling. The World Health Organization definition of One Health is “an integrated, unifying approach to balance and optimize the health of people, animals and the environment”. However, with multiple disciplines, data sources, and sectors involved, the challenges grow. This session provides a place to explore modelling, data science, and machine learning One Health approaches for evidence-based decisions, highlighting some of these challenges.

Key topics: One Health, Infectious diseases, Mathematical modelling, Data science and machine learning
