×J3. Modelling for action: how can we make ourselves heard?

While models are becoming increasingly more sophisticated and powerful, we are still seeing that in many cases they do not lead to action. Communicating scientific results in general and modelling results in particular remains to be challenging. Despite some great urgency in certain areas, such as climate adaptation, pollution control, or land degradation, policy and behavioural changes are slow or absent. In many cases we already know more than we can act upon. In this session we are looking for innovative information technologies that can help us deliver the results from our modelling and research to stakeholders and decision makers in ways that will inspire new policy, modify behavior and priorities, and will result in action.

Example questions we would address in the session:

Key topics: Persuasion/Persuasive technology, Data analysis and visualisation, Uncertainty, Stakeholders
