Few applications of modelling and optimisation have a larger impact on economic activities and, at the same time, pose interesting research challenges as transportation and supply chains. On one hand, transportation analysis and optimisation are crucial for the investment in infrastructure, trade and logistics, international commerce and economic development. On the other hand, after more than half a century since the first appearance of the vehicle routing problem on a scientific paper, vehicle routing and scheduling problems remain among the most challenging and exciting problems in Operations Research, both from a computational and a modelling perspective. This session welcomes papers dedicated to the modelling and optimisation of transportation and supply chains, and is open both to theory and application contributions.
