In 2015, MODSIM featured the first conference session in Australia with the word 'provenance' in the title: Research Data Provenance. That session attracted a series of papers about provenance model and system use for different purposes including the lineage of physical samples, user feedback, data licenses and geospatial processing. Since 2015, the word 'provenance' has become much more widely seen in research and data communities. What developments can the MODSIM community demonstrate have occurred since 2015? We include the representation, distribution, storage and use of data’s lineage information within 'provenance' and invite papers on the application of provenance tools, provenance representation, provenance data use, data management for provenance and organisational responses to provenance challenges.
