D3. Systems analysis and modelling to support capability development

This session covers a range of systems thinking, systems modelling, systems engineering approaches to support capability development. Our aim is to bring together theoretical and applied research into the area of cross-fertilization between modelling and system engineering in order to address complex problem solving and decision support challenges, including:

• Integration of soft (i.e. human) and hard system aspects (e.g. technology)
• Dealing with situations characterized with uncertainty and limited knowledge
• Rapid model/system development process to support end-user information and decision making needs in a time and resource-efficient manner
• Harnessing the value of large data set (i.e. Big Data) to support decision making
