×F3. New trends in modelling and simulation of future mobility

The rapid development of electric vehicles (EVs) and autonomous vehicles (AVs) with recent advances in information and communications technology (ICT) and big data brings us new possibilities for modelling and simulation of future person and freight mobility. These opportunities come with challenges such as better utilization and fusion of various data sources (like transit smart cards, social networks, GPS, shared mobility), more flexible public transit services, more integrated mobility services with multimodal transport systems, and more efficient freight mobility solutions.

Such opportunities have led to new trends in transport modelling and simulation:

  1. moving from traditional instruments such as household travel survey or questionnaire to multi-dimensional data sources
  2. innovative mobility-as-a-service (MaaS) developments
  3. electric, automated and connected transit and freight delivery service design
  4. tailored services for special groups of travellers like seniors and youths.

We invite original research papers in line with one or more of the aforementioned challenges and trends. Specific topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

Key topics: Future mobility, Big data, Behaviour analysis, Freight logistics
