B4. Mathematical modelling and image analysis for plant phenotyping

Plant phenotyping is the process of identifying and modelling the effect of genotype differences and environmental conditions on the plant appearance and behaviour. This process often requires the collection of various phenotypic traits at high-precision and eventually at high throughput. While in the past this has been done manually, recently, imaging-based methods are becoming popular in plant phenotyping.

This session aims to gather

  1. Novel methods and techniques that address the various challenges in image analysis for plant phenotyping, both of shoots and roots.
  2. New techniques that aim at modelling mathematically, using information extracted from images, the relation between plant appearance and behaviour with genotype differences and environmental conditions.
